Micro Digital Video Camera 4GB

These tiny cameras are intended for use as a spy gadget, hence the casing looks like a car remote fob. It records good quality video and audio at full 30 frames per second and weighs only 16g. It will operate for about one hour between recharging. Perfect for attaching to aircraft, vehicles, helmets etc. Because it is small and rounded, it provides very little wind drag so it shouldn't impact flight characteristics.

To view the video you simply connect to a PC or Mac. No special software required. Internal memory of 4G or 8G is enough for up to 90min/180min respectively.

The videos are perfect for posting on YouTube or putting on your iPhone to show others. We'll post more video as it comes to hand, here's a sample:

Operation is straightforward. The camera is powered up by pushing one of the buttons, then pushing the other button for 3 seconds starts recording. Attach it to your aircraft and record a video. Because of the size, you can place it almost anywhere - even on the wingtip or tail for a fantastic perspective of your model in the air.

There are some considerations to get the best results:
  • Don't put the camera right behind the prop. Since this is a CMOS camera, each pixel has its own electronic shutter and they do not all fire at the same time - the result is that the prop will appear as a strobing pattern.
  • If the aircraft vibrates too much, the image is not the best. For best results attach firmly to some part of your aircraft which has the most mass.
We've observed a few individuals peddling similar cameras at very cheap prices. We purchased some - they were junk. With one, the memory was indicated as 8GB, but only the first half of that worked. Inspection inside revealed the memory was recycled from some other equipment! On others, the image was poor and the frame rate was only 15 to 17 frames per second. They also claimed higher resolution, however this was being faked as the image sensor was the normal 640x480 type. Be warned! The type we sell are produced for us by a reputable manufacturer. They cost a little more because they are manufactured using good quality parts.
Our cameras now comes with user configurable Date/Time stamp, so you can get rid of that annoying text in the corner of your video! Imitation cameras do not have this feature.
